Shapiro's Deli - Since 1905 "Cook good. Serve generously. Price modestly. People will come." Louis Shapiro's motto started a legacy back in 1905. That motto holds just as true today. What was "The American Grocery Store" is now this country's "granddaddy" of delis.

Opened by Louis and Rebecca Shapiro in 1905 as a small grocery store, Shapiro’s became a restaurant in the 1930s. Today it is a full-service kosher-style deli where you can buy smoked fish and cold cuts by the pound; and it is also a huge cafeteria serving three meals a day.

Shapiro's Carmel officially opened on Monday, July 29, 2002. We have a new modern structure offering all the delights of our downtown location (still at Meridian and McCarty Streets) and more specialty grocery options. The Carmel location offers a large range of imported cheeses, oils, vinegars, wines, marinades and more. Just like downtown, we offer the same high quality food seven days a week. We are the first business to open in the new Carmel City Center design project with others soon to follow. Please come and see us, tour our building, and enjoy all of our unique offerings. We are open daily 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. (8 p.m. on Sunday) and we have a wonderful full service breakfast on Saturday and Sunday from 6:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Hope to see you soon!
